About
The summit restaurant sits at 2,230 metres right at the top station of the Stubnerkogelbahn, in the middle of the ski area above Bad Gastein. Through the panorama windows and from the sun terrace you look all the way round over the Hohe Tauern. Because the gondola goes up, you get here without skis too, and that's exactly what makes it the meeting point for groups where not everyone skis.

I come an hour before or after the classic lunch time, then you still get a seat at the window or on the terrace. Many people go to the suspension bridge and the viewing platform first and eat afterwards, when the rush is over. Pack sunglasses, the light up there is brutal.
Cuisine & style
Alpine hut cooking with regional classics, snacks and something sweet, vegetarian works too. Self service, plus the big terrace.
Price level
A mountain restaurant in a ski area, so mid to slightly upper level. The portions are right, and you pay for the location as well.
Location & access
At the top station of the Stubnerkogelbahn above Bad Gastein, Stubnerkogel 12. In winter you only get here by gondola or over the pistes.
