About
The Hellbrunner Allee is one of the oldest surviving avenues in Central Europe and runs dead straight for almost three kilometres from the city out to Schloss Hellbrunn. Old trees stand on both sides, behind them fields, old villas and the mountains. By bike you're through in half an hour, on foot it takes longer, but you have no cars next to you. At the end the palace and the trick fountains are waiting.

I ride early in the morning, when the light comes flat through the trees and the avenue is empty. There are a few benches along the way that you barely see from the road. And add the detour to Schloss Frohnburg, it's right next door and most people ride straight past.
Duration & difficulty
Half an hour by bike, almost three kilometres and flat as a board. For kids, occasional cyclists and everything in between.
Best season
Spring to autumn. In spring the trees are fresh, in autumn the leaves lie on the path and it's at its quietest.
Location & access
From the south of the city out to Hellbrunn, a few minutes by bike from the centre. By car you park at the palace, and buses run nearby too.
