Lake & swimming
The Ritzensee lies on the edge of Saalfelden, and behind it the Steinernes Meer stands like a wall. There is a public natural swimming area, benches along the shore, a playground and a mini golf course, plus a small café. The path along the shore is flat and walked in ten minutes. A place where you spend a whole afternoon without planning anything.

In summer I go into the natural swimming area, the water is clear and pleasantly cool. If you don't want to swim, sit on one of the benches by the shore, it stays quiet there even on a busy day. With kids, the playground and mini golf easily fill two hours, and the café by the lake has something in between.
Ten minutes for the path along the shore, flat and surfaced, fine for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Anyone who swims, plays and eats is quickly there for half a day.
All year, for swimming June to September. In autumn the Steinernes Meer often stands white above the colours on the shore.
On the edge of Saalfelden in the Pinzgau, a good hour from Salzburg by car. There is plenty of parking, by train to Saalfelden and then a short walk.
