Brewery
The Stiegl-Brauwelt in Maxglan is brewery, tavern and museum in one. Inside there's the rustic Bräustüberl and the Maschinenhaus with its industrial feel, outside the big Sudhaushof, where everyone sits in summer. The beer comes from the house, the cooking is Austrian and honest. Sounds like a tourist trap, but it's one of the better taverns in the city.
Anton
Local from Salzburg
Leave the standard lager and take the Tasting-Brettl instead, that way you work through the house beers, and you can share it too. It's most relaxed in the afternoon in the beer garden. And the best part by Salzburg standards: there's plenty of parking right on the site, and it's free.
Austrian tavern cooking with a brewery slant: Schweinsbraten, Kasnocken, plus burgers. The beer comes straight from the brewhouse next door.
Fair middle ground, most main courses sit between fifteen and twenty-five euros. For a beer straight from the source you pay no more than anywhere else.
In the Maxglan district, a bit west of the old town. Bus lines 1 or 10 to Bräuhausstraße, or by bike; there is plenty of parking on the site.
