Viewpoint
The platform on the Schlossalm stands on a steel grating over the rock, and below you there is nothing at first. The view runs the whole way down the Gasteinertal and across to the Stubnerkogel. In winter you walk there from the top station of the Schlossalmbahn along a groomed panorama trail. This isn't a hike, it's a stroll that ends with you suddenly seeing a very long way.

I go in the morning, when the air is clear. Hardly anyone is up there then and the light is better than in the afternoon. Afterwards I walk on to the Hofgasteiner Haus and have a soup. Watch out at the piste crossings, the skiers come through fast.
Fifteen to twenty minutes from the top station, flat and groomed. As a full loop along the panorama trail, a good hour and a half.
In winter, as long as the Schlossalmbahn runs and the panorama trail is groomed. It pays off most when the air is clear.
Above Bad Hofgastein on the Schlossalm. The Schlossalmbahn takes you up, and the path is signposted from the top station.
