About
The MONDI Bellevue Alm sits at 1,265 metres above Bad Gastein, and from the terrace you look down on the lights in the valley. Inside there is wood, panelled rooms and a fireplace with a fire going in winter. What lands on the table is mountain hut cooking: Kaiserschmarrn, burgers, Austrian classics, and in winter the fondue the place is known for.

Book the fondue evening early, in winter the tables go fast. I ride up on the single chairlift, eat without rushing and take the floodlit toboggan run back down. Dress warmer than you think for the lift, in the evening the wind up there really bites.

Price level
Ski hut level, so mid-range to slightly upmarket. The portions are big, and you pay for the spot above the valley as well.
Location & access
Above Bad Gastein on the Stubnerkogel, up on the small chairlift from the valley station. In winter you can also come straight in off the slope.
